YMCA Wellington & District is seeking a reliable Accommodation and Welfare Officer for waking nights. You will support residents across sites, perform welfare checks, monitor CCTV, and respond calmly to incidents and emergencies.

You must maintain records, handovers and perform cleaning and basic maintenance. You will work independently and with colleagues, demonstrating strong communication, judgment and boundary management during overnight shifts.

Formación

• Good general education to GCSE level (or equivalent).
• PAT Certification is required.
• Health and safety certificates are required.
• First Aid certificate is required.
• Mental Health First Aid certificate is preferred.
• Food Safety/Hygiene knowledge is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide a safe and secure environment for residents at night.
• Work a combination of lone work and paired shifts.
• Maintain high building standards by recording and reporting issues.
• Regular health and safety checks and site patrols.
• Use CCTV and carry out checks to manage security in line with GDPR.
• Respond to resident queries and signpost to support services.
• Be first point of contact for external callers and signpost as appropriate.
• De-escalate high tension situations and act with firmness and fairness.
• Keep on-call senior team updated on major incidents.
• Give first aid or emergency assistance as required.
• Keep accurate logs and hand over information at shift changeover.
• Undertake cleaning of communal areas and basic maintenance.
• Carry out minor maintenance like changing bulbs or redecorating.
• Collect and store food donations following health protocols.
