Job summary

Sealord invites aspiring engineers to join our crew aboard deep-sea vessels as a Trainee Factory Engineer. Earn while you learn, gain qualifications, and build a rewarding marine engineering career.

You'll work with experienced teams, benefit from structured training, and experience a unique lifestyle at sea with 12-hour shifts and 2–6 week voyages. This role requires a hands-on mindset, a trade qualification, and a real commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Previous engineering or mechanical experience.
• Trade qualification such as Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, or Mechanical Engineering Trades.
• Experience repairing, servicing, or maintaining machinery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair machinery aboard deep-sea vessels.
• Receive hands-on training and develop technical skills.
• Work in a trip-on, trip-off rotation with 12-hour shifts.

About the Opportunity

As a Trainee Factory Engineer, you'll work as part of a close‑knit engineering team, helping to maintain and repair the machinery and systems that keep our vessels operating efficiently.

You’ll receive hands‑on training while developing valuable technical skills in a real‑world environment. No two days are the same, and every voyage brings new challenges and learning opportunities.

Our vessels operate on a trip‑on, trip‑off rotation, with voyages typically ranging from 2 to 6 weeks. While at sea, you’ll generally work a 12‑hour on, 12‑hour off shift pattern, allowing plenty of time to rest and recharge.

What We’re Looking For

You may already have:

• Previous engineering or mechanical experience
• A trade qualification such as:
  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Mechanical Engineering Trades
• Experience repairing, servicing, or maintaining machinery

Or perhaps you’re someone who:

• Loves working on cars, motorbikes, boats, engines, or machinery
• Enjoys troubleshooting and fixing problems
• Is practical, hands‑on, and mechanically minded
• Wants to build a long‑term engineering career

Most importantly, we’re looking for people with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
