Job summary

OceanaGold’s Macraes Mine in Otago offers a paid Summer Internship for an Underground Surveyor. The program runs mid-November to mid-February with a 9-day fortnight roster and on-site work.

You will gain practical experience on Boretrak data collection, survey data processing and contribute to drilling accuracy initiatives under mentorship from the Underground Surveying team. Requirements include 2nd/final year of surveying studies, unrestricted NZ working rights, a full Class 1 licence, and

Qualifications

Full Class 1 drivers licence (manual preferred).
Unrestricted New Zealand working rights.
Available from mid-November 2026 to mid-February 2027.
In your 2nd last or final year of surveying-related study.
Ideally have somewhere to stay in Dunedin or Oamaru and bus to site daily.

Responsibilities

Gain practical experience on diverse underground surveying projects.
Assist Boretrak data collection and processing.
Present learnings to Site Management at internship end.
Work with Underground Surveying team on-site at Macraes.
