Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation invites university students studying surveying to join the Macraes Mine in Otago for a paid internship, running from mid-November to mid-February. You will work with the Underground Surveying team on-site, gaining practical experience and applying your study to real mining projects.

The program includes mentoring, group activities with other interns, and a final presentation to Site Management.

Qualifications

• Full Class 1 Drivers licence (ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred).
• Unrestricted New Zealand working rights.
• Available from mid-November 2026 through to mid-February 2027.
• In your 2nd last or final year of role-related study.
• Ideally have somewhere to stay in Dunedin, Oamaru or surrounds, and happy to bus to site daily.
• Curious and inquisitive mindset with a passion for problem solving.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and visualisation platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
• Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns, providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
• Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.
