Job summary

OceanaGold invites motivated students pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor of Surveying to join our Waihi operation as a paid intern in the Survey team. The internship runs mid-November to mid-February, with 10-hour days, Monday to Friday, on-site at Waihi.

You will work on diverse surveying projects, gain practical mining experience, and present learnings to Site Management. You will be mentored by professionals, collaborate with interns, and participate in real-life projects within a major NZ gold

Qualifications

• Accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas.
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence; ability to drive manual vehicles preferred.
• Unrestricted New Zealand working rights.
• Available from mid-November 2026 through to mid-February 2027.
• In your 2nd last or final year of role-related study.
• Studying towards a Diploma or Bachelor of Surveying.
• Current and strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field.
• Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Placement within the Survey team doing a variety of field and office based tasks on the surface and underground, across all areas of the operation.
• Work on a range of projects assigned by department managers and team members, gaining practical experience in your field of study.
• Present your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at internship conclusion.
