Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation invites a talented university student in Mine/Geotechnical Engineering to join the Macraes Mine internship in Otago. The paid role runs mid-November through mid-February, with a 9-day fortnight roster and on-site duties in Underground Mine Engineering.

You'll gain hands-on experience on diverse projects, receive mentorship, and present your learnings to Site Management. Applicants should have NZ work rights, a valid licence, and be in later years of study.

Qualifications

• Full Class 1 driver’s licence (manual preferred)
• Unrestricted New Zealand working rights
• Availability from mid-November 2026 to mid-February 2027
• In your 2nd last or final year of study
• Willing to bus to site daily from Dunedin/Oamaru or surrounds
• Curious and problem-solving mindset
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and visualization platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

• Gain practical experience by tackling diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members
• Participate in group activities with other interns to understand mining processes
• Present experiences and key learnings to Site Management at internship end
