Job summary

Citycare Water in Whitianga is seeking an experienced Graduate Treatment Plant Engineer to help optimise day-to-day operations of our water and wastewater facilities. You will review performance, implement improvements, and support compliance with drinking water standards.

The role requires a Civil, Chemical, or Process Engineering degree and 2–3 years of operation experience, plus knowledge of SCADA and plant equipment.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in treatment operations
• Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
• Working knowledge of SCADA systems and treatment plant equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
• High attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards
• Full Class 1 driver's licence, manual vehicles

Responsibilities

• Review daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants for optimal performance, reliability and compliance
• Monitor resource consents and drinking water standards, ensuring regulatory compliance
• Lead troubleshooting, maintenance planning and continuous improvement to improve plant efficiency
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure HSE standards are met
• Pursue professional development and apply new technologies to improve outcomes
