Job summary

K&S Freighters Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator to join the Mount Maunganui team on a full-time basis. You will coordinate day-to-day dispatching and allocations of customer products, ensuring accurate data entry and fleet usage for local containers and fleet operations.

The role demands strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other coordinators and customers.

Qualifications

• Experience dispatching and scheduling trucks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Familiarity with Transport Management systems or quick learner.
• Knowledge of Tauranga Port advantageous.
• Awareness of Health and Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage scheduling for customers and drivers using the correct fleet.
• Ensure safety and compliance in the workplace.
• Liaise with customers to maintain high service levels and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with other Transport Coordinators and external parties.
• Organise vehicle booking and container slots using the VBS.
• Maintain data accuracy in the KSF Transport Management system and customer systems.
• Support incident reporting and follow-up as needed.
• Answer calls and handle queries; provide backup support.

About the role:

We have an opportunity available for an experienced and proactive individual to join our team as a Transport Coordinator, based at our Mount Maunganui site. We’re looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about the Transport Industry to coordinate the day to day dispatching and allocations of customer products in an accurate and efficient way. This role encompasses the co-ordination of some of our local Mount Maunganui container and flatdeck fleet for specific customers.

This is a full time role.

Primary tasks will include:

• Manage the scheduling for customers and drivers, whilst utilising the correct fleet as required and running the fleet in an efficient manner.
• Ensure compliance and safety are positively approached within the workplace.
• Responding and liaising with customers to ensure high standard of customer service is attained and assisting with any issues or complaints in a timely manner.
• Communicating and working cohesively with Transport Coordinators, and other internal and external parties.
• Organising online VBS (Vehicle Booking System), Container Slots, changing and updating container numbers and polling for additional slots.
• Ensuring the KSF Transport Management system and customer systems are maintained and kept up to date with accurate data entry, ensuring all jobs the company performs are being recorded.
• Assisting in following up on any outstanding incident, injury or near miss reports.
• Answer phone calls and assist with phone queries.
• Providing backup support to other Transport Coordinators.

Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience dispatching and scheduling trucks.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work both independently and work cohesively with the team.
• Strong attention to detail and great time management skills
• Understands how to use Transport Management systems, or able to learn new systems quickly.
• Previous experience within the Transport Industry would be preferred, knowledge of Tauranga Port and the process would be advantageous.
• Great awareness of Health and Safety.
• Ideally, knowledge or legislative requirements in the Transport Industry
