Job summary

Transam is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to lead day-to-day transport operations, coordinating dispatchers and drivers, and ensuring safe, efficient service. The role provides frontline leadership, supports workshop coordination, and manages invoicing and COF continuity.

Applicants should have strong organisational and communication skills, a track record in transport or logistics, and experience with Transport Management Systems and Oracle.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in transport, logistics, dispatch or operational coordination.
• Experience supervising or coordinating an operational team.
• Proficiency with Transport Management Systems and office software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Transport team including dispatchers and drivers.
• Provide frontline guidance to resolve operational issues as they arise.
• Complete transport invoicing and prepare information for approval.
• Coordinate servicing, repairs and COF requirements for vehicles.
• Work with workshop to ensure servicing and operations run smoothly.
• Maintain accurate systems and records and support transport administration.
• Provide coverage for annual and sick leave, including occasional Saturday mornings.
• Maintain strong communication across transport, dispatch, drivers and suppliers.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and support continuous improvement.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Supervisor to join our Transport team and play a key role in keeping our day-to-day transport operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on operational role that will provide frontline leadership, coordination and support across dispatch, drivers, fleet servicing, workshop activities and transport administration. You will be responsible for responding to operational challenges, keeping multiple moving parts connected and ensuring our transport services are delivered safely, efficiently and reliably.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced transport or logistics coordinator who is ready to take the next step into a supervisory position. The standard hours are approximately 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a likelihood of regular Saturday work. However, as this is an operational role, flexibility will be required to provide coverage during staff absences and respond to unexpected operational requirements.

Here is some of what you will be doing:

• Coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Transport team, including dispatchers and drivers.
• Providing frontline support and guidance to the transport team, helping resolve operational issues as they arise.
• Completing transport invoicing and prepare information for approval.
• Coordinating vehicles and units for servicing, repairs and Certificate of Fitness (COF) requirements.
• Working closely with the workshop to ensure servicing, repairs and operational requirements are coordinated effectively.
• Following up with suppliers regarding parts, pricing, availability and scheduling.
• Supporting workshop administration and helping to maintain accurate systems and records.
• Providing coverage for annual leave and sick leave across the transport function when required.
• Supporting dispatch operations, including occasional Saturday morning coverage.
• Maintaining strong communication between transport, dispatch, drivers, workshop teams and suppliers.
• Assisting with systems administration and ensuring transport information remains accurate and up to date.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and supporting continuous improvement across transport operations.
• Responding professionally and effectively to day-to-day complaints, issues and operational challenges.

In this role, success means keeping the transport operation connected, organised and moving. You'll ensure dispatchers and drivers have the support they need, vehicles are available and maintained, workshop requirements are followed up, invoices and systems are accurate, and operational issues are resolved quickly.

Qualifications

You will be an organised and resilient transport professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, solving problems and supporting a team to keep things moving. We are looking for someone with:

• A full New Zealand Driver Licence.
• Approximately 5 years' experience in transport, logistics, dispatch or operational coordination.
• Previous experience supervising or coordinating an operational team.
• Experience with systems administration, preferably Transport Management Systems, Oracle, Container Chain or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges.
• The resilience to remain calm and professional when dealing with pressure, complaints and unexpected issues.
• A strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
