JCM Destination New Zealand Limited – Stanmore Bay, North Island
JCM New Zealand is a well-established boutique inbound tour operator, specialising in travel arrangements for international groups from the Western Hemisphere. We have been doing this for over 20 years, and the business continues to grow.
We are looking for a motivated, organised and adaptable person to join us and help with the planning and booking of group tours, as well as getting involved in trade events, product development and a little digital marketing. This is a hands‑on role in a small business, so you won't be one person in a large team with a narrow job description. You will work side by side with the Managing Director and have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the business. We are offering flexible conditions in a hybrid and supportive work environment, and there is a clear path to progress your career to higher levels If you are keen to learn and take responsibility.
As a Tour Group Consultant, you will manage the planning and coordination of tours for our international clients, from the initial enquiry through to the successful operation of the program.
You will be the liaison between the agents and the suppliers; the Destination Expert able to understand the client’s expectations and deliver the unforgettable experience they deserve; and the Local Representative who can manage Customer Service issues effectively.
This includes:
The role suits someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the details right and is comfortable taking ownership of their work.
You might also on occasion be asked to:
Excellent destination knowledge, good organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail are required. You will also need to be proficient with Excel and comfortable working independently.
Previous experience in inbound tourism or as a tour guide would be an advantage, but it is not essential. If you have travelled extensively around New Zealand and are genuinely motivated to learn, we'd still like to hear from you.
Knowledge of another European language, particularly French, would be a bonus.
JCM New Zealand is a small business, and the environment is friendly, relaxed and supportive.
The position will initially be based at our home office in Whangaparaoa, Auckland North Shore, while you get settled into the role and complete your trial period. Once you are established, you can work remotely or from the office, depending on what works best for you.
We are offering the position on a contract or part‑time basis initially, with the intention of moving to full‑time next year if that suits both you and the business.
This flexibility could make the role particularly well suited to someone returning to the travel industry after a break, someone who already has another part‑time occupation, or someone with family commitments who is looking for a professional role without the immediate commitment of full‑time hours.
If you're looking for a varied role where you can use your travel knowledge, learn new skills and work closely with the person running the business, we'd love to hear from you.
