Job summary

Auckland Council’s Technology Services team is seeking a Technical Product Owner to lead our Hybrid Cloud Platforms. You will own the prioritised roadmap and backlog, guiding cross-functional teams to modernise our technology landscape.

You will drive cloud platform standards across AWS, Azure, GCP and private cloud, balancing lifecycle, security and resilience with business demand, delivering secure, scalable services for technology teams across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven product ownership experience in hybrid cloud or infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical fluency across cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and private cloud.
• Experience guiding technical teams and shaping platform roadmaps and backlogs.

Technical Product Owner -Hybrid Cloud platforms

Auckland Council’s Technology Services team is seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to lead our Hybrid Cloud Platforms team on a journey as we modernise our technology landscape.

This role has ownership across a broad hybrid cloud ecosystem, including AWS, Azure and GCP, private cloud, backup and storage platforms.

You will have input into product direction and maintain a prioritised roadmap and backlog, ensuring our platforms remain secure, resilient, scalable and fit for purpose. You will balance platform lifecycle and remediation requirements with emerging technology needs, technical debt, operational performance and demand from teams consuming these services.

Working closely with architects, engineering and operational teams, vendors and service owners, you will help establish clear platform standards and pathways that enable teams to effectively consume and build upon our cloud services.

You will bring strong product ownership capability with technical fluency across cloud and enterprise infrastructure platforms.

You will understand the complexities of operating hybrid cloud environments and be confident making prioritisation decisions across platform investment, lifecycle, security, resilience and continuous improvement.

Ideally, you will bring experience across:

• Product roadmaps, backlog management and prioritisation
• Experience leading and supporting technical teams to succeed
• Public cloud environments including AWS, Azure and GCP
• Private cloud and enterprise infrastructure platforms
• Backup, storage and data protection technologies
• Cloud platform lifecycle, resilience, security and remediation
• Platform health, monitoring and operational supportability

You will be able to translate complex platform requirements, risks and technical trade offs into clear decisions and priorities, while ensuring the teams you lead have the standards, documentation and support pathways they need.
