Job summary

Talent Connection NZ Limited is recruiting for a six-month fixed-term Chief Technology Officer to lead a complex, predominantly on-premises technology environment. You will manage legacy infrastructure, drive mandatory upgrades, maintain governance and compliance, and own technology risk.

• Manage technology risk, security, privacy, business continuity and disaster recovery, including SOC 2 Type II.
• Oversee technology suppliers, licensing, budgets and investments to align with business needs and risk appetite.
• Collaborate with SLT and Board to resolve technology issues and maintain operational performance.

Our client is an established New Zealand service provider operating at the intersection of technology, data, and customer communications.

We are recruiting for a six-month fixed-term Chief Technology Officer.

You'll lead a complex, predominantly on-premises technology environment. Your remit: manage legacy infrastructure, drive mandatory upgrades, maintain governance and compliance, and own technology risk. You'll operate hands-on while balancing day-to-day incidents with strategic improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the IT and data services function, providing hands-on leadership across technology, development, systems and digital solutions
• Maintain and progressively upgrade a complex, predominantly on-premises technology environment, balancing mandatory upgrades with day-to-day operational demands
• Manage technology risk, security, privacy, business continuity and disaster recovery, including SOC 2 Type II requirements
• Oversee technology suppliers, licensing, budgets and investment, ensuring technology decisions align with business requirements and risk appetite
• Work closely with the SLT, Board, customers and wider business to resolve technology issues, manage incidents and maintain operational performance

About You

• Senior technology leadership experience in a complex corporate environment, with strong hands-on experience across on-premises and legacy technology environments
• Proven experience managing technology upgrades, technical debt, outages and competing operational priorities
• Strong understanding of technology risk, security, privacy and business continuity, ideally within a SOC 2 Type II, ISO or similarly governed environment
• Commercial and financial capability across technology budgets, licensing, suppliers, vendors and investment decisions
• The maturity and resilience to lead a technical team, navigate complex business issues and operate effectively under pressure
