Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation invites talented surveying students to join the Waihi operation for a paid internship. You will support the Survey team, gain hands-on experience on surface and underground projects, and present learnings to Site Management at the internship’s end.

The program runs roughly from mid-November to mid-February, with 7:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday shifts and 50-hour weeks, in Coromandel’s Waihi region.

Qualifications

  • Ideally have accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas
  • Full Class 1 Drivers licence (ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred)
  • Unrestricted New Zealand working rights
  • Available from mid-November 2026 through to mid-February 2027
  • In your 2nd last or final year of role-related study
  • Studying towards a Diploma or Bachelor of Surveying
  • Current & strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Placement within the Survey team doing a variety of field and office based tasks on the surface and underground, across all areas of the operation
  • Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members
  • Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements

Job Description

Are you atalented and ambitious student studying towards aDiploma or Bachelor of Surveying looking to gain practical experience in your field of study? We have the perfect opportunity for you to join our Survey team atOceanaGold working at our Waihioperation.

This paid internship opportunity will run approximately from mid-November through to mid-February (dependent on exam timetable of the successful applicant) working with our talented Survey team on-site at Waihi. The hours of work are 7 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm, Monday to Friday, 10 hour shifts. You get your weekends off to explore the stunningCoromandel!

What will you bedoing?

  • Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and teammembers.
  • Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns, providing you with awell-rounded knowledge of the miningprocess.
  • Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.

Specific project work will involve:

  • Experience what it is like to work as aSurveyor in the mining industry within NZ. You will have the opportunity to work alongside our surveyors on awide variety of tasks using many different types of surveying equipment andtechnology.

Key responsibilities will include:
