Job summary

IDEA Services is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist people with intellectual disabilities at their homes, including night shifts and sleepovers. You will help clients achieve personal goals with care, safety, and creativity, building meaningful routines within the community.

Local area connections and flexible shifts, including weekends, are valued. Prior caregiving experience is helpful, and you'll have opportunities to gain Level 2–4 Health and Wellbeing certificates.

IDEA Services supports people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives at home and as part of their community. You will be supporting people with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes to achieve their goals and aspirations. This is meaningful work where you can be creative and make every day interesting in ways that are important to others.

As a Support Worker you will be supporting clients with complex needs, managing risk, ensuring safety, and providing individual care throughout the night. Previous relevant experience is preferred, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with varied life experience and an open-minded attitude.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

• Preference will be given to candidates who are local to the area and have a strong connection to the community.
• Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.
• A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover shifts.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Full NZ driver's license.
• Full right to work in NZ required.
