Job summary

Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust – Christchurch, South Island is hiring a permanent part-time support worker to assist a client in their own home in the Northern suburb of Christchurch. You will provide all aspects of personal care and contribute to goals of independence and inclusion.

The role requires reliability, compassion, good judgement and the ability to work as part of a small team. A full driver's license is preferred and training is provided, including a two-week orientation.

Qualifications

  • Compassionate, reliable and able to use sound judgement.
  • Willingness to learn clinical tasks and follow care plans.
  • Ability to work with clients, whānau and support team.
  • Full driver’s licence and driving with confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support with daily living tasks.
  • Administer medication per care plan and manage simple clinical tasks.
  • Support client to participate in community activities and goals.
  • Assist with household tasks and maintain a safe home environment.

Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust – Christchurch, South Island

Position: Permanent Part Time, 60 Hours a fortnight (2-week rotating roster) - Every second weekend off

Week 1: Tue, Wed, Sat and Sun - Shift time: 7am-3.15pm

Week 2: Tue, Wed, Thur and Fri - Shift time: 7am-3.15pm

You will be supporting a client in their own home in Northern suburb of Christchurch, as part of a small, dedicated team. This role involves providing all aspects of personal care, including complex care needs, administering medication via feeding tube, tracheostomy cares, passive movements, exercises, and supporting the client to work towards their person-centred goals.

Support staff will also assist with household management tasks, including general housework and laundry.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy, and able to use good judgement while supporting the client to access their community and achieve greater independence, inclusion, and quality of life following a Traumatic Brain Injury.

Our client is seeking an exceptional team where genuine and authentic connections can develop over time. The ideal person will have a good sense of humour, be fun to be around, and be comfortable around small dogs.

Due to operational requirements, preference will be given to candidates who live within 15 km of the service location. (Northern Suburb of Christchurch)

  • The ability to work in partnership with clients, whānau, and the wider support team

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • A full driver's licence
  • A willingness to work within the mission, vision, and values of the organisation
  • Previous experience in support work essential, working with people with disabilities would be advantageous, but full training will be provided
