Placements24 is seeking a Substation Design Engineer in Queenstown to lead electrical substation design for HV/MV systems, including single-line diagrams and protection schemes.

You will develop layouts, specify equipment, coordinate with civil/structural teams, ensure compliance with SANS, IEC, IEEE, and support construction and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has a 6+ year track record, a BEng in Electrical Engineering, and proficiency with ETAP/PSS/E/AutoCAD Electrical.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of substation design experience.
• Experience with HV/MV substations and protection principles.
• Familiarity with IEC/SANS/IEEE standards.

Responsabilidades

• Design and engineer electrical substations, including HV and MV systems.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Specify substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, and busbars.
• Prepare physical layout drawings with equipment arrangements and clearances.
• Develop protection and control schemes, including relay settings.
• Coordinate with civil and structural engineers for site development and foundations.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical codes and standards (SANS, IEC, IEEE).
• Perform electrical studies: load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination.
• Review vendor submittals and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to meet project objectives.
