ConnectYou is seeking a Senior Substation Design Engineer to lead detailed HV substation design across transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects in New Zealand. • Senior-level experience in substation design at a lines company, consultancy or EPC.
• Detailed design experience on HV substation projects through to construction.
• Strong working knowledge of New Zealand regulations, joint AS/NZS standards and Transpower or lines company design requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out detailed primary and/or secondary substation design for new builds, upgrades and connections (11kV to 220kV).
• Prepare and check design deliverables including single line diagrams, general arrangements, earthing, lightning protection, cable schedules, and protection & control schematics.
• Carry out engineering studies and calculations such as earthing, insulation coordination, cable sizing, AC/DC auxiliary systems and protection settings.
• Ensure designs meet NZ regulations and standards and safety in design principles.
• Manage design packages to scope, schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with clients, Transpower, vectors and contractors on technical and connection requirements.
• Review work of junior engineers and drafters and provide guidance.
• Contribute to tenders, proposals and cost estimates.
• Support construction and commissioning including RFIs and reviewing as-built documentation.
• Help improve design standards, tools and processes.

We’re looking for a Senior Substation Design Engineer who can do detailed design of HV substations across transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects in New Zealand. You’ll produce and check design work from concept through to construction support, help less experienced engineers and drafters, and work closely with Transpower, lines companies, clients and contractors to deliver designs that are safe, compliant and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed primary and/or secondary substation design for new builds, upgrades and connections (typically 11kV to 220kV)
• Prepare and check design deliverables, including single line diagrams, general arrangements, earthing, lightning protection, cable schedules, and protection and control schematics
• Carry out engineering studies and calculations such as earthing, insulation coordination, cable sizing, AC/DC auxiliary systems and protection settings
• Make sure designs meet the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, NZECP 34, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000, EEA guidelines and Transpower or lines company standards, and follow safety in design principles
• Manage your own design packages to scope, schedule and budget
• Work with clients, Transpower, electricity distribution businesses (e.g. Vector, Orion, Powerco, Unison) and contractors on technical and connection requirements
• Review the work of junior engineers and drafters and give them technical guidance
• Contribute to tenders, technical proposals and cost estimates
• Support construction and commissioning, including answering RFIs and reviewing as-built documentation
• Help improve design standards, tools and processes

Experience

• Senior-level experience in substation design at a lines company, consultancy or EPC
• Detailed design experience on HV substation projects through to construction
• Strong working knowledge of New Zealand regulations, joint AS/NZS standards and Transpower or lines company design requirements
• Experience with design and study tools such as CDEGS, PowerFactory, ETAP or similar
• Experience connecting renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS) highly regarded
• Comfortable guiding junior engineers and working directly with clients
