Job summary

Dunedin City Council is seeking a Subdivision Support Officer to join the City Growth and Advisory Services Team in Dunedin. You will use your strong organisational and administrative skills to coordinate resource consent, building consent, and new water connection processes across the 3 Waters group.

The role requires excellent communication, a diploma, and strong Excel/Office skills. It is customer-focused and works in a fast-paced environment with supportive leadership and opportunities for

  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Provide process support and coordinate activities across the 3 Waters Group, including resource consent, building consent, and new water connection processes.
  • Deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Department specific information:

The City Growth and Advisory Services Team focuses on providing technical and specialist advice to guide new developments to comply with Dunedin’s planning framework. The City Growth and Advisory Services Team works closely with a range of departments, to ensure that feedback is consistent, collaborative, and ensures developments comply with regulatory requirements.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and motivated Subdivision Support Officer to join the City Growth and Advisory Services Team, reporting to the Subdivision Engineer.

You will use your strong organisational and administrative skills to provide process support and ensure the smooth coordination of activities across the wider 3 Waters Group, including resource consent, building consent, and new water connection processes.

This is a customer-focused role that will allow you to be part of our hardworking and supportive team environment.

Essential requirements for the role include:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A diploma qualification (ideally within a related field).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think clearly and logically.
  • A highly collaborative working style, with the ability to build constructive and effective relationships.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Ideally you would also have:
  • Experience working in resource planning and/or Building Act processes.
  • Previous experience in administration.
  • Customer Service experience.
  • A current Class 1 driver's licence.
