Job summary

Superior Personnel Ltd is seeking an experienced Class 5 Yardman / Shunt Driver for a fast-paced role moving high-value structural steel between our manufacturing space and the yard in New Zealand. The role blends precise heavy-vehicle shunting with hands-on yard duties and close collaboration with crane operators.

You will hold a current NZ Class 5 (and Class 5L) licence, have proven steel handling experience, excellent reversing skills, and a reliable, on-time attitude.

Qualifications

• NZ Class 5 (5L) licence and clean driving record.
• Experience with securing heavy steel loads and chaining.
• Excellent reversing skills for tight yard spaces.
• Reliable, punctual and on-site availability.

Responsibilities

• Shunt and maneuver heavy steel loads with Class 5 vehicles.
• Secure loads using chains and NZTA-compliant restraints.
• Assist with loading/unloading and general yard labour.
• Coordinate with yard staff and crane operators for safe transitions.
• Complete daily pre-start checks and follow site safety protocols.
