VIP Structural Steel is seeking an experienced Class 4 Truck & Trailer Driver / HIAB Operator to deliver structural steel across Christchurch and the South Island. This hands-on role combines driving, loading, and efficient on-site coordination.

You will operate HIAB cranes, forklifts, and supporting yard activities with an emphasis on load security, safety, and timely deliveries in a busy construction-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Valid NZ work rights required or NZ/AU citizen, permanent resident, or NZ work visa
• Class 5 licence advantageous
• Experience with HIAB cranes and forklift operations preferred
• Strong understanding of load restraint and safety procedures

Class 4 Truck/Trailer Driver and Hiab Operator

VIP Structural Steel is a locally owned and operated business specialising in the design, supply, fabrication, and erection of structural steel for commercial and residential projects.

We are currently seeking an experienced Class 4 Truck & Trailer Driver / HIAB Operator to join our team. This is a dynamic role involving the transport, loading, and delivery of structural steel across Christchurch and the wider South Island.

The position requires the safe operation of trucks, trailers, HIAB cranes, telehandlers, and forklifts. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of safe lifting, load security, and logistics practices when handling structural steel.

VIP Structural Steel supports ongoing training and development, and opportunities exist for the right candidate to grow within the wider business.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A clean and current Class 5 Driver Licence - Advantageous
• HIAB operating experience
• Strong knowledge of load restraint and safe loading/unloading practices
• A high commitment to Health and Safety
• Pride in maintaining their truck and equipment
• Steel construction or heavy transport experience (advantageous)
• The ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal
