Placements24 is seeking a Power Systems Planner in Queenstown, Eastern Cape for long-term expansion planning and grid optimization. You will conduct load forecasting, perform power flow analyses, and collaborate with grid operators and regulators to guide infrastructure investments.

The role emphasizes strategic energy planning, integration of diverse energy resources, and improving network reliability in a region undergoing development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system planning or analysis.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software (PSS/E, PowerFactory, ETAP).
• Strong understanding of network planning principles, load flow, and stability analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long-term power system expansion plans, considering demand growth and new energy sources.
• Conduct detailed load forecasting and capacity planning studies for the network.
• Perform power flow, short-circuit, and stability analyses to assess system performance and reliability.
• Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of proposed infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with grid operators, asset managers, and regulatory bodies on planning matters.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for infrastructure investments and upgrades.
