Job summary

Tauranga Primary School is seeking a Specialist Teacher: Learning Support and Intervention Programmes to join our team for 2027. You will lead learning support, develop learner support plans, and work with whānau and external agencies to meet the needs of students requiring extra help.

The role includes delivering targeted maths intervention (MAP) and collaborating with the SENCO team, Deputy Principal and Associate Principal to ensure learning support is integrated across the kura.

Qualifications

• Must hold a certificated teaching qualification.
• Experience in learning support and intervention.
• Ability to work with ākonga and whānau and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical learner support plans and progression for students needing extra help.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement targeted intervention programmes (MAP).
• Navigate referral pathways and liaise with whānau and external agencies.
• Contribute as part of the SENCO team to ensure learning support is embedded school-wide.

We are seeking a skilled teacher with strengths in learning support to join our team in 2027.

The learning support aspect of the role involves supporting teachers to meet the needs of ākonga requiring additional support, including ORS-funded students.

The successful applicant will be able to develop practical learner support plans, navigate referral pathways, and work effectively with whānau and external agencies. Strong coaching and mentoring skills are essential, alongside the ability to help teachers access the support and resources they need.

The specialist teacher role includes delivering targeted intervention programmes. In 2027, the intervention focus will be mathematics (MAP).

The specialist teacher role will be part of the SENCO team at Tauranga Primary School and work with our DP and AP to ensure all learning support needs in our kura are met. The DP and AP also have learning support responsibilities within the school.
