Job summary

Maitai Specialist School in Nelson is seeking a passionate classroom teacher for 2027, full-time, permanent. You will work with students in Years 1–8, supported by a multidisciplinary team including therapists and whānau, to deliver rich and meaningful learning experiences.

English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts

Maitai Specialist School is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Classroom Teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside highly skilled teachers, teacher aides, therapists and whānau to provide rich, meaningful learning experiences for students with complex learning needs.

Maitai Specialist School is a progressive specialist school serving students across the Nelson/Tasman region. We are continuing to grow and develop, including new learning environments and satellite provision across the region.

You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team where professional learning is valued and staff are encouraged to develop their practice. Our teachers work closely with teacher aides and our therapy team, including speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists, to ensure our students receive a holistic approach to learning and wellbeing.
