Job summary

MB Century, Taupo, NZ, invites applications for Senior Engineer / Team Lead - Geothermal. Based at our Wairakei location, with local and international site visits, you will spearhead geothermal design and mentor the engineering team.

You will drive client relationships, support tendering, and contribute to the company’s growth in renewable energy. A Washington Accord degree is preferred and CPEng is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Substantial geothermal or process engineering experience.
• Piping and process design knowledge.
• Washington Accord Mechanical Engineering degree; CPEng preferred.

The Role:

Primarily office based at our Wairakei location, you will also get out to client sites locally and internationally. Contributing to the development and implementation of the company’s geothermal engineering strategy, you'll report to the Professional Services Manager, and be responsible for:

• Leading major geothermal design and engineering projects


• Leading knowledge-sharing opportunities and supporting networking activities for your team with industry peers.


• Being the technical advisor for geothermal refurbishment projects and contributing to tendering activities


• Undertaking geothermal and general engineering design, plant modifications and upgrades, performance assessment, project management, equipment specification, procurement and construction and commissioning support


• Be versed in modern technologies and techniques such as 3D scanning and laser alignment


• Developing and nurturing MB Century's engineering capability by mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers


• Driving client relationships and develop business opportunities and leads

About You:

With substantial experience in geothermal energy or process engineering including maintenance, refurbishment and rehabilitation projects, you'll have a proven track record with piping design principles/ process design. As a Senior Engineer you'll offer a Washington Accord Mechanical Engineering degree and ideally CPEng.

In addition, you'll bring:

• Team leadership experience with a passion to share your knowledge and nurture others in a highly technical Geothermal engineering environment


• Sound understanding of contracts


• Effective interpersonal skills with experience working across multi-disciplinary teams


• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client partnerships and industry connections (local and international) to generate business


• Experience in project leadership, coordinating work to meet agreed costs and schedules
