Job summary

Agilyx Corp. is seeking a senior, hands‑on technical leader to guide Cloud Services and IT operations in New Zealand. The role acts as deputy to the Head of Cloud Services and IT, coordinating daily activity, mentoring engineers and handling complex issues without formal people management.

You will lead cloud operations, architecture guidance, automation, incident response and stakeholder communications, ensuring service delivery aligns with budgets and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Senior technical leadership and mentoring experience.
• Proven ability to guide and coordinate cloud engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on Azure experience with compute, storage and networking.
• Experience with security hardening, IAM, backup and DR.
• Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and independent decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and coordinate daily activity for Cloud Services engineers.
• Mentor staff, share knowledge, and escalate blockers and risks.
• Act as senior escalation point and represent Head on delegated matters.
• Lead build, admin and support of customer environments and platforms.
• Drive automation using PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep, Ansible.
• Coordinate patching, vulnerability remediation, backups and DR testing.
• Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams and configuration records.
• Lead major incidents and contribute to RCA and reliability improvements.
• Manage customer relationships and coordinate migrations and improvements.
• Keep Head updated on incidents, changes, and project progress.
