Job summary

NZ Super Fund in Auckland is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership across our Microsoft Azure environment within the Cloud and Infrastructure team. You will design and implement scalable, secure, cost-effective cloud solutions, mentor engineers, and help shape our cloud strategy, governance, and roadmap.

This hands-on role combines engineering excellence with leadership, delivering resilience and value for New Zealand's national fund.

Qualifications

• Significant IT experience with a focus on cloud technologies.
• Extensive experience in Microsoft Azure environment.
• Experience designing and implementing secure, resilient cloud solutions.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Advanced cloud security capability.
• Experience with self-healing and fault-tolerant services.
• Understanding of stateless and loosely coupled distributed applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
• Provision, manage, monitor and decommission Azure servers and services.
• Act as a key contact for Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services.
• Contribute to cloud strategy, security approach and technology roadmap.
• Establish and maintain cloud governance (access, tagging, budgets, compliance).
• Identify opportunities to improve cloud performance, resilience and cost.
• Apply infrastructure-as-code practices and support self-healing services.
• Lead responses to outages or security incidents.
• Manage cloud service providers and vendor relationships.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to other cloud engineers.
• Collaborate with internal teams and partners on projects.
