Job summary

Synechron is seeking a Senior Lead Platform / DevOps Engineer (SRE) in Auckland with 17+ years of experience to design, secure, and operate resilient cloud-native platforms. You will lead across AWS and Azure, own Kubernetes platforms, and drive SRE, IaC, and CI/CD initiatives.

The role emphasizes automation, observability, and security, mentoring engineers and partnering with security and business teams on mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• 17+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Experience with AWS & Azure (EKS, AKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, APIM).
• Experience with middleware platforms (IBM MQ, WebSphere, MuleSoft, Kafka).
• Strong monitoring, logging, and incident response skills.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, build, and operation of secure, scalable platforms across AWS and Azure.
• Own Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, OpenShift) including upgrades and security.
• Drive SRE practices: SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, incident management, RCA.
• Architect IaC using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Lead DevSecOps and CI/CD using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Ansible Tower, and YAML pipelines.
• Implement observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Azure Monitor.
• Ensure security and compliance: TLS/SSL, certificate rotation, IAM, KMS, BYOK, encryption at rest/in transit.
• Mentor engineers; define engineering standards and best practices.
• Partner with application, security, and business teams to deliver mission-critical systems.
