Job summary

Willis Towers Watson in Auckland seeks a Senior Claims Advisor with strong financial lines claims experience and liability background to support our Pacific Claims Team. You will provide technical advice to NZ clients, manage complex claims, and negotiate settlements.

Responsibilities include mentoring Claims Advisors, guiding brokers, liaising with global counterparts, and contributing to claims management leadership.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of financial lines and liability claims management experience.
• Law degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Cert IV in general insurance and diploma preferred but not required.
• Must hold regulatory licenses/permissions as per local law.
• Well-organised, detail-focused, and professional.

Responsibilities

• Manage claims portfolio for Financial and Casualty lines.
• Advise clients on negotiations and settlements with brokers.
• Guide brokers to manage client expectations.
• Demonstrate claims management expertise to clients/prospects.
• Negotiate with insurers and representatives on clients' behalf.
• Resolve coverage disputes with all relevant parties.

We seek a full-time Senior Claims Advisor with very strong financial lines claims experience and some general liability expertise background for our Pacific Claims Team. This role will be based in Auckland, New Zealand.
As a Senior Claims Advisor, you will provide technical advice to New Zealand clients throughout the claims process, including settlement negotiations. You will handle a range of Financial Lines claims including Professional Indemnity, D&O, EPL and Regulatory matters but have the ability to manage complex general liability claims.
You will manage complex claims, offer pragmatic advice on validity and strategy, advocate for clients, guide Claims Specialists and Brokers, liaise with global counterparts, manage international claims, share knowledge, support best practices, aid product development, and contribute to thought leadership.

Responsibilities

• Manage claims portfolio for Financial and Casualty insurance lines.
• Advise and support clients in negotiating and settling losses, collaborating with client advocate brokers as needed.
• Guide client advocate brokers to manage clients’ expectations throughout claims.
• Demonstrate claims management expertise to clients and prospects.
• Negotiate with insurers and their representatives on behalf of clients.
• Resolve coverage disputes by engaging with all relevant parties.
• Provide specialised claims advice to clients and stakeholders.
• Conduct or participate in claims reviews and legacy claims audits.
• Contribute to client tender processes and meet with prospective clients.
• Mentor Claims Advisors with technical expertise.
• Provide thought leadership in claims management.

Qualifications

• 6 yrs + Financial lines and liability claims management experience
• Law degree or equivalent qualification preferred but not required.
• Cert IV in general insurance and diploma (or equivalent experience) preferred but not required.
• Must hold all regulatory licenses and permissions as per local legislation.
• Highly organised, detail-focused, and takes pride in their work.
• Knowledge of insurance regulations and laws.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship-building abilities.
• Capable of facilitating training and presentations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license required; some travel necessary.
