Southern Cross Health Insurance is building a brand-new digital squad in Auckland. The Senior Software Engineer will design and own backend services, APIs, and Azure infrastructure. You’ll ship frequent releases, collaborate with Lead/Principal Engineers, and help evolve a scalable platform for nearly one million members.

You’ll work in a product operating model, with test-driven development and strong emphasis on secure, reliable software and modern CI/CD practices.

Qualifikationen

• Proven experience building and running enterprise applications in cloud/hybrid environments.
• Hands-on Azure and infrastructure as code experience.
• Strong backend and integration capability with APIs and services.

Aufgaben

• Design, build and maintain backend services, APIs and integrations.
• Own and evolve the Azure infrastructure for the squad.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for safe, frequent releases.
• Break work into small, testable increments with clear acceptance criteria.
• Write unit, contract, API and component tests to ensure quality.
• Monitor production, investigate issues and fix them properly.
• Identify technical debt and propose pragmatic improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing across the squad.
• Leverage AI tools thoughtfully to improve team efficiency.
