Job summary

Crossware Limited in Auckland is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using C# and .NET. You will develop RESTful APIs and contribute to system architecture while ensuring performance and reliability in production environments.

The role focuses on practical problem-solving, modernisation of legacy systems, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

3+ years in backend development with C#/.NET.
Strong API design and distributed systems knowledge.
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
SQL and/or NoSQL databases, data modelling.
Familiarity with system design, scalability, and performance.
Git and CI/CD pipelines; production-grade coding.
Security considerations in backend services.
Experience with legacy systems and modernization.
AKS and Docker experience; production-scale mindset.
Proactive ownership of system stability and reliability.
Willingness to learn and apply AI judiciously while maintaining standards.
Comfort debugging across backend, frontend, and cloud layers.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain backend services using C# and .NET.
