Job summary

Southern Cross Health Insurance in Auckland is expanding a new squad of engineers to build a digital health and wellbeing experience for members. You’ll own back-end services, APIs, and Azure infrastructure, shipping frequent releases and shaping the platform from day one.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll collaborate with Lead Engineers, apply secure, testable design, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

Qualifications

• Experience building and running enterprise applications in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Strong back-end and integration capability, with a proven track record delivering secure, scalable services.
• Hands-on experience with Azure and infrastructure as code, and comfort owning the infrastructure your services run on.
• Proficiency with .NET/.NET Core, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes and GitOps.
• Solid CI/CD practices and automated testing across unit, contract, API and component tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain back-end services, APIs and integrations that are secure, testable and maintainable.
• Own and evolve the squad’s Azure infrastructure using infrastructure as code.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for safe, frequent releases.
• Break work into small, testable increments with clear acceptance criteria.
• Write tests as part of the job and ensure quality is built in.
• Monitor production and lead issue resolution with proper fixes.
