Job summary

Architectural Envelopes seeks a metal welder/engineer to deliver high‑end welded and manufactured components for roofing and cladding projects in our Queenstown workshop and on site. The role suits an experienced tradesperson who can work within a team and independently to achieve precise results.

You will weld, fabricate, and install a variety of steel and aluminium products, interpret drawings, and contribute to quality workmanship and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years welding and engineering experience.
• Tertiary qualification in welding or engineering preferred.
• Able to read and interpret drawings.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Work unsupervised and be self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate steel, aluminium, and sheetmetal from drawings.
• Handle, cut, and assemble metals for roofing and cladding projects.

About the Role:

We are offering a permanent full time position 30-40 hours per week to a Metal Welder/Engineer. You will be responsible for delivering high end architecturally designed welding and manufacturing projects in our sheetmetal workshop and on site in the Queenstown Lakes District, Otago region.

What you will be doing:

• Welding & fabricating a variety of steel products using mild metal, aluminium and sheetmetal from drawings
• Handling, cutting, and assembling steel, aluminium, copper, brass and other roofing & cladding materials
• Experience in aluminium joinery fabrication, ideally with a relevant trade qualification
• An integral part of the larger team producing quality work and ensuring good workflow to meet deadlines

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years demonstrable experience in welding and engineering.
• A tertiary qualification in welding or engineering would be preferred
• Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
• Excellent knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings
• Exceptional communication and organisational skills
• Work un-supervised, motivated and self-dependent
• Review procedures, processes and documentation
• Measure, cut and weld according to specifications, drawings and blueprints
• Maintain a clean and orderly work space
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
