Job summary

Architectural Envelopes is seeking a motivated Welder Engineer Fabricator to join our sheetmetal workshop and undertake on-site roofing and cladding projects in the Queenstown Lakes District, Otago.

This permanent, full-time role is 30–40 hours per week with competitive remuneration of $37-$39/hour and a clear path for career growth within a well-established roofing and cladding business.

You will weld and fabricate steel and aluminium, read drawings, and work as part of a team to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years demonstrable welding/engineering experience.
• Tertiary qualification in welding or engineering preferred.
• Able to work in a team and autonomously.
• Excellent ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
• Measure, cut and weld according to drawings and blueprints.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• On-site and workshop fabrication experience is a plus.

We are on the lookout for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Welder Engineer Fabricator to stamp their mark on a well-established roofing and cladding business.

Architectural Envelopes offers distinctive roofing, exterior cladding, and interior finishes. Our products are used in architectural homes, commercial buildings and iconic buildings, designed to last for over 100 years.

About the Role:

We are offering a permanent full time position 30-40 hours per week to a Metal Welder/Engineer. You will be responsible for delivering high end architecturally designed welding and manufacturing projects in our sheetmetal workshop and on site in the Queenstown Lakes District, Otago region.

What you will be doing:

• Welding & fabricating a variety of steel products using mild metal, aluminium and sheetmetal from drawings
• Handling, cutting, and assembling steel, aluminium, copper, brass and other roofing & cladding materials
• Experience in aluminium joinery fabrication, ideally with a relevant trade qualification
• An integral part of the larger team producing quality work and ensuring good workflow to meet deadlines

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years demonstrable experience in welding and engineering.
• A tertiary qualification in welding or engineering would be preferred
• Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
• Excellent knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings
