Job summary

The Treasury Te Tai Ōhanga in Wellington seeks a Senior Advisor to join the Strategy and Performance Team on a fixed-term basis or secondment. You will support priority-setting, business planning and organisational performance reporting, aligning strategy with delivery and coordinating reporting products.

You will work with senior leaders, provide trusted advice, identify issues and opportunities, manage external accountability, and help deliver the Annual Report and other key documents.

Qualifications

  • Experience in strategic planning and performance reporting in a government or large organisation.
  • Ability to coordinate complex work programmes with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytic writing and ability to translate data into clear insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate organisational planning and priority-setting across Treasury.
  • Support development and monitoring of strategic planning processes for alignment of priorities and delivery.
  • Provide strategic advice and performance insights to internal governance committees and senior leaders.
  • Drive and coordinate organisational performance reporting, tracking progress against priorities and measures.
  • Lead the development of accountability and reporting products, including the Annual Report and external documents.
  • Support governance processes with high-quality analysis, reporting and advice.
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities affecting performance and reporting.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Advisor to join our Strategy and Performance Team on a fixed‑term basis (or secondment) to cover parental leave. This role sits at the centre of Treasury's strategic planning and performance system. You will work closely with senior leaders across the organisation to support priority‑setting, business planning, organisational performancereportingand external accountability processes. You will provide trusted advice and insights that help leaders understand progress against Treasury'sobjectives,identifyemerging issues and opportunities, and make informed decisions about priorities and delivery. You will also play a key role in coordinating key organisational reporting products, including statutory and accountability documents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting strategy with delivery, bringing structure to complexity, and working across organisational boundaries to achieve shared outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • lead and coordinate organisational planning and priority‑setting processes across Treasury
  • support the development and monitoring of strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment between organisational priorities and delivery activities towards impact
  • provide strategic advice and performance insights to our internal governance committees and other senior leaders
  • drive and coordinate organisational performance reporting, helping leaders track progress against key priorities, outcomes and measures, with impact at the fore
  • lead the development of major accountability and reporting products, including the Annual Report and other external performance documents
  • support governance processes by providing high‑quality analysis, reporting and advice
  • identify emerging risks, issues, opportunities and interdependencies that may affect organisational performance
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of Treasury's planning, reporting and performance management frameworks
About You

You are a confident and credible advisor with experience working in strategy, planning, performance reporting, governance or organisational performance. You thrive in complex environments and are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, managing competing priorities and translating information into clear advice and actionable insights. You bring sound judgement, strong relationship management skills and a genuine interest in helping organisations deliver on their strategicobjectives.

You will bring
  • experience in organisational planning, performance reporting, governance, strategy or a related field
  • demonstrated ability to coordinate complex work programmes involving multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines
  • experience developing high‑quality reporting, briefings and accountability documents for senior audiences
  • strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise complex information into concise insights and recommendations
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
  • a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience

The base salary range for this role is $127,621.55 to $150,143.00.
