Scott Machinery Ltd in Christchurch is seeking a technically capable Sales Engineer to join our Hornby-based Christchurch team. You will work with manufacturers to select equipment from CNC machine tools to laser cutting machinery, combining engineering knowledge with sales skills.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in CNC machining, toolmaking, fitting and turning, fabrication or a related engineering field.
• Ability to understand machinery, manufacturing processes and technical specifications.
• Clear written and spoken English; good organisation and follow-through.
• NZ driver licence and legal right to work in New Zealand.

Technical Sales Engineer for Engineering Machinery, CNC and Fabrication Machinery

Scott Machinery is looking for a technically capable and personable Sales Engineer to join our Christchurch team. This opportunity could suit an experienced CNC machinist, toolmaker or fitter-turner ready to move into technical sales, or an established sales engineer with machinery or manufacturing experience.

Scott Machinery imports and supplies engineering machinery and machine tools to customers throughout New Zealand. You will help manufacturers select equipment that meets their production requirements, from conventional machinery and machine tools to CNC machine tools and press brakes through to laser cutting machinery.

About the role

You will work directly with customers to understand their manufacturing requirements, recommend suitable machinery and prepare clear commercial proposals. The position combines technical problem-solving, relationship management and sales.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Visiting and consulting with engineering and manufacturing customers

About you

You do not necessarily need previous sales experience. We are interested in people who can combine sound engineering knowledge with curiosity, organisation and strong communication.

You will ideally have:

• Practical experience in CNC machining, toolmaking, fitting and turning, fabrication or a related engineering field; or proven technical-sales experience
• The ability to understand machinery, manufacturing processes and technical specifications
• Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues
• Clear written and spoken English
• Good organisation and follow-through
• A practical, positive and self-directed approach
• Competence with everyday computer and business systems
• A full New Zealand driver licence
• The legal right to work in New Zealand

Experience with capital equipment, quotations, CRM systems, marketing or technical presentations would be useful but is not essential.
