Job summary

people2people is seeking a Sales Engineer to grow technical aftersales opportunities across New Zealand and the Pacific. You will build strong customer relationships, understand technical requirements, and manage opportunities from lead through to order, collaborating with sales, service and parts teams.

You’ll receive mentoring and contribute to expanding the product portfolio while travelling domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification in mechanical, marine, power generation or related discipline.
  • Sales know‑how with understanding of the sales funnel.
  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills.
  • Auckland-based with NZ permanent working rights and willingness to travel domestically and overseas.

  • Develop and grow technical aftersales opportunities across NZ and the Pacific.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers and understand their technical requirements.
  • Manage leads and opportunities through the sales funnel to contract closure.
  • Prepare quotations and tenders in collaboration with internal technical teams.
  • Develop account plans and identify opportunities within customer relationships.
  • Work closely with sales, service and spare parts teams to deliver customer outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate CRM information and sales reporting.
  • Represent the business at customer visits, industry forums and events.

This newly created Sales Engineer position will focus on growing technical aftersales opportunities across New Zealand and the Pacific. You’ll build strong customer relationships, understand technical requirements and manage opportunities from initial lead through to order, working closely with sales, service and spare parts teams. You’ll receive hands-on mentoring and support as you build your knowledge of the business, customers and product portfolio, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as you develop.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills & Experience
  • Professional engineering qualification in mechanical, marine, power generation, process engineering or a closely aligned discipline
  • Sales capability with an understanding of the sales funnel and how to progress opportunities
  • Strong customer relationship, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Sales Engineer, technical aftersales or account management experience would be advantageous
  • Comfortable learning technical products and preparing quotations or tenders
  • Auckland-based with permanent working rights in New Zealand and comfortable travelling domestically and overseas
