Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

At First Rescue, we’re in the business of helping people when they need it most. Across New Zealand and Australia, our teams support customers through unexpected and often stressful moments — from roadside breakdowns to property and insurance‑related emergencies.

We’re proud to be a trusted assistance provider for the automotive, property management, insurance, and business sectors, delivering practical support, clear communication, and dependable service when time matters.

Whether it’s a customer stranded on the roadside, a vehicle that won’t start, or an urgent situation that needs calm and capable hands, our people are the ones who step in, solve problems, and help get things moving again.

About the role:

We’re looking for a practical, customer‑focused Roadside Technician to join our Roadside Team. This is a hands‑on role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll attend emergency roadside breakdowns, help customers in stressful situations, and provide the kind of calm, professional support that makes a real difference on the day.

From jump starts and lockouts to out‑of‑fuel support, battery fitment, and basic mechanical diagnosis, you’ll be out on the road representing First Rescue and delivering reliable service to customers who are counting on us to get them safely back on their way.

What you’ll do:
  • Attend emergency roadside breakdowns and provide practical support to help customers get moving again.
  • Carry out services such as jump starts, vehicle unlocking, out‑of‑fuel support, battery fitment, and basic mechanical diagnosis.
  • Keep your service vehicle, tools, equipment, and stock ready for each callout.
  • Record clear job notes, customer interactions, and service details in the job management system.
  • Prioritise urgent jobs while maintaining a safe, professional, and customer‑focused approach.
  • Work closely with the team and contribute to a positive, reliable, and supportive service culture.
What we’re looking for:
  • A good understanding of vehicles, basic mechanical diagnosis, and roadside repair work.
  • An NZQA‑approved automotive qualification is preferred, but practical hands‑on experience will also be valued.
  • Dangerous Goods Endorsement and First Aid Certificate are preferred, but not essential.
  • A calm, practical approach and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong customer service skills with a positive, friendly, and professional attitude.
  • Someone who is reliable, safety‑conscious, and comfortable working independently while staying connected with the wider team.
