Job summary

Muster Limited is seeking an Automotive Technician for its Wellington roadside assistance team. This on-the-road role attends breakdowns across the Wellington region, providing practical support such as jump starts, tyre changes, unlocking and basic mechanical diagnosis to help customers move safely again.

You will work mostly independently with a 4 days on, 4 days off roster from 8am to 7pm. A Level 3/4 automotive qualification or strong hands-on experience plus a full NZ driver licence are

Qualifications

• Level 3 or 4 automotive qualification preferred, or strong hands-on automotive experience.
• Full, clean New Zealand driver licence.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency roadside breakdowns throughout Wellington.
• Carry out jump starts and battery fitment.
• Assist with flat tyres and tyre repair kits.
• Provide vehicle unlocking and out-of-fuel assistance.
• Diagnose basic mechanical issues and complete roadside repairs.
• Maintain your service vehicle, tools, equipment and stock.
• Record accurate job and customer information.
• Manage and prioritise callouts safely and efficiently.

A well-established roadside assistance provider is looking for a capable and customer-focused Automotive Technician to join its Wellington team.

This is a varied, hands-on role that will see you out on the road attending breakdowns across the Wellington region, helping customers in unexpected and often stressful situations.

You’ll provide practical roadside assistance including jump starts, wheel changes, vehicle lockouts, battery fitment and basic mechanical diagnosis, using your automotive knowledge to help get customers safely moving again.

Working largely independently, this opportunity would suit someone who enjoys being out and about, solving problems and providing a high level of customer service.

• Up to $37 per hour, depending on experience

About You

• Good automotive knowledge and practical mechanical ability
• Level 3 or 4 automotive qualification preferred, or strong hands-on automotive experience
• Confident with basic vehicle diagnosis and roadside repairs
• Full, clean New Zealand driver licence
• Comfortable working independently and managing your workload
• Able to work the 4 days on, 4 days off roster from 8am-7pm
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, practical and safety-conscious
