Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in Gisborne is seeking a Youth Justice Coordinator to manage Family Group Conferences for tamariki and rangatahi, and work with whānau and communities to address underlying causes of offending.

You will collaborate with victims, police and Youth Court to uphold victims' and public interests, while applying a mana-enhancing, restorative approach. Some travel around the region may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating Youth Justice Family Group Conferences (FGCs).
• Ability to build strong relationships with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and victims.
• Experience working with youth aged 12–18 years.
• Strong report writing and time management skills.
• Understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
• Knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples' culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in line with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.
• Collaborate with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and communities to address underlying causes of offending.
• Work with victims, police and Youth Court to uphold victims' and public interests.
• Apply restorative and mana-enhancing approaches using community resources.
