Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in the Greater Wellington region (Porirua, Kapiti, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, or Wellington) is seeking a Youth Justice Coordinator. You will manage Family Group Conferences and collaborate with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and the wider community to address underlying causes and promote a restorative path.

Qualifications

• Strong community youth networks and ability to connect with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and Community.
• Strong facilitation skills to plan, identify supports and apply FGC standards throughout this process.
• Understanding of Youth Justice pathway or experience with tamariki/youth aged 14–18 in a similar role.
• Ability to self-direct and manage workload with clear communication, including strong report writing skills.
• Champion the principles of the Oranga Tamariki Māori Cultural Framework and understanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act.
• Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice.

Responsibilities

• This role involves managing Family Group Conferencing (FGCs) and working with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and the wider community to address underlying causes of offending.
• Travel to different areas within the Greater Wellington region may be required.
