Job summary

Green by Nature in Queenstown is seeking a Response Operator to join our facilities team. You will attend daily callouts and repair council assets, from bollards to irrigation and public bathrooms, applying practical handyman skills.

This role requires experience in building, plumbing or outdoor trades, the ability to read plans, and a Class 1 manual driving licence. You may work independently and with the team, and some weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience from building, plumbing or outdoor trades.
• Ability to interpret building plans and perform landscaping tasks.
• Experience in troubleshooting plumbing and irrigation systems.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily callouts to repair assets and facilities.
• Repair and install park infrastructure (bollards, signs, etc.) and fix water pressure issues.
• Perform minor building works, landscape tasks and general maintenance.
• Some weekend work may be required to address urgent callouts.

As part of our commitment to upkeeping the Queenstown Lakes District region, we are looking for a Response Operator to join our team!

What does a Response Operator do you ask?

Our Response Operators are like jack-of-all-trades maintenance superstars. They've got the skills and know-how to handle any job that comes their way, drawing from their experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs and practical handy work. As a Response Operator, you'll attend daily callouts to repair council assets, from setting up bollards to troubleshooting blockages and water pressure issues on irrigation and public bathrooms/toilets, or installing park signs. Additionally, you may be involved in minor building works, landscaping, and other facilities maintenance. Some weekend work may be required to attend urgent call outs.

Skills and Experience

• You’ll be using your practical skills which you may have gained from working in an outdoors role, involved in building, plumbing or related industries
• Be able to interpret building plans, hard and soft landscaping skills, troubleshooting plumbing and irrigation support, as well as machinery operations
• A current, full class 1 driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is essential
• Have experience and confidence to manage projects, including planning of work and ongoing communication with our clients
• You’ll need to be self-motivated with a great work ethic and be able to work alone at times - for the big jobs, you’ve got the support of our team to help out!
• Physically fit and be able to manage some heavy lifting at times
• A desire to complete all jobs to a high standard of work - there’s a lot of people depending on us to keep things in working order across the region!
