Job summary

Green by Nature is seeking a Response Operator to join our team in the Queenstown Lakes District. You’ll perform daily callouts, repair council assets, install park signage, fix fences, and undertake minor building works, landscaping, and garden maintenance.

Ideal candidates have practical outdoor experience, ability to read building plans, and a full class 1 driver’s licence (manual). You should be self-motivated, physically fit, able to work alone or with the team, and committed to

Qualifications

• Experience in outdoors/building-related roles.
• Ability to interpret building plans, landscaping, carpentry, concreting, and machinery operation.
• A full class 1 driver’s licence (manual) is essential.
• Experience managing projects and communicating with clients.
• Self-motivated and capable of working alone, with team support for bigger jobs.
• Physically fit with the ability to do heavy lifting.
• Desire to complete all jobs to a high standard.

Responsibilities

As part of our commitment to upkeeping the Queenstown Lakes District region, we are looking for a Response Operator (also known as a handy-person) to join our team!

What does a Response Operator do you ask?

Our Response Operators are like jack-of-all-trades superstars. They've got the skills and know-how to handle any job that comes their way, drawing from their experience in building and practical handy work. As a Response Operator, you'll attend daily callouts to repair council assets, from setting up bollards to fixing broken picnic tables, fences, or installing park signs. Additionally, you may be involved in minor building works, landscaping, and garden maintenance. Some weekend work may be required to attend urgent call outs.

Skills and Experience

• You’ll be using your practical skills which you may have gained from working in an outdoors role, involved in building, or related industries
• Be able to interpret building plans, hard and soft landscaping skills, carpentry, concreting, and machinery operations
• A current, full class 1 driver’s licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is essential
• Have experience and confidence to manage projects, including planning of work and ongoing communication with our clients
• You’ll need to be self‑motivated with a great work ethic and be able to work alone at times - for the big jobs, you’ve got the support of our team to help out!
• Physically fit and be able to manage some heavy lifting at times
• A desire to complete all jobs to a high standard of work - there’s a lot of people depending on us to keep things in working order!
