Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer for a fully remote role. The candidate will drive hazard analyses, develop and manage Process Safety Management programs, ensure compliance with safety standards, and lead safety training across projects in the chemical/energy sectors.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of process safety experience, and strong analytical/reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process safety engineering within chemical, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
• Experience in conducting PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA).
• In-depth knowledge of PSM principles and practices.
• Familiarity with national and international safety regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Certification in Process Safety (e.g., CSP, CIWSP) is desirable.
• Experience with safety software and tools for risk assessment and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
• Develop, implement, and manage PSM programs.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and maintain safety procedures, operating guidelines, and emergency plans.
• Investigate safety incidents and root causes; implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical safety guidance on projects and operations.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections.
• Deliver process safety training to staff.
• Oversee management of change (MOC) process.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
