Job summary

Datacom is seeking a Knowledge Specialist to manage and maintain the knowledge base for a specific functional area, collaborating with Development Specialists to produce unified documentation for internal teams and customers.

You will analyse technical information, edit content to meet standards, and contribute to knowledge management improvements while aligning with contractual requirements and operational needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in technical writing or knowledge management
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology or a related discipline
• Specialist understanding of technical writing and knowledge management techniques and tools
• Strong knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for problem identification and resolution
• Advanced writing skills with the ability to create clear, user-friendly knowledge resources
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder relationship management and collaboration skills
• Strong presentation, planning and report writing capabilities
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, work plans and performance expectations effectively

Responsibilities

• Maintain the internal knowledge base for a specific functional area to support operational effectiveness and performance
• Write, edit and refine technical documentation including manuals, online help systems, installation guides and quick reference materials
• Review and edit contributions from Development Specialists to produce unified and consistent support documentation
• Analyze program outlines and technical information to develop high-quality manuals and resources
• Ensure contractual support and documentation requirements are met
• Improve content templates, research methods and authoring style guides
• Manage user roles and permissions to ensure the right information reaches the right audiences
• Develop and maintain information architecture and taxonomy structures to support effective communication and discoverability
• Coordinate search tuning, taxonomy, grading and dictionary maintenance
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks using knowledge management frameworks
• Support a positive health and safety culture in line with policies
