Job summary

Comspek International is seeking an experienced Technical Writer for a 6-month contract to support a network and infrastructure discovery and documentation initiative in Wellington, New Zealand.

You will gather information from technical teams, validate existing network, wireless, and site infrastructure environments, and produce comprehensive technical artefacts including diagrams, runbooks, and knowledge base articles suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer for a 6-month contract to support a network and infrastructure discovery and documentation initiative.

The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to gather, validate, analyse, and document the organisation's current network, wireless, and site infrastructure environments. This role is critical to creating a complete and accurate set of technical artefacts that support operational excellence, future planning, risk reduction, and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather information from technical teams, infrastructure engineers, and stakeholders.
• Validate and analyse existing network, wireless, and site infrastructure environments.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operational artefacts.
• Document LAN, WAN, WiFi, and site connectivity architectures.
• Produce network diagrams, topology maps, infrastructure inventories, and configuration documentation.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with operational standards.
• Identify documentation gaps and work with technical teams to obtain missing information.
• Develop knowledge transfer materials to support ongoing operational support and future initiatives.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical documentation suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer within enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of:
  • LAN technologies and architecture
  • WAN connectivity and networking concepts
  • Enterprise WiFi and wireless infrastructure
  • Site infrastructure and network topology
• Experience documenting network environments, operational procedures, and technical architectures.
• Ability to interpret technical information and engage effectively with engineers and architects.
• Experience producing high-quality technical artefacts, including:
  • Network diagrams
  • As-built documentation
  • Technical standards
  • Operational runbooks
  • Knowledge base articles
• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
