Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Environmental Scientist to support mining operations with a focus on assessing environmental impacts and developing mitigation strategies. The role requires 5+ years in environmental management within mining, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent reporting skills.

You will collaborate with site teams and regulators to minimize ecological impact from anywhere, while ensuring compliance and sustainable practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, with specific experience in the mining industry.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, permitting processes, and impact assessment methodologies.
• Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, essential for a remote position.
• Experience with GIS and environmental modeling software is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new and existing mining projects.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) and monitoring programs.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental legislation and standards.
• Manage environmental data, analyze results, and prepare comprehensive reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
• Advise on best practices for waste management, water management, and biodiversity conservation in mining.
• Collaborate with operational teams to integrate environmental considerations into mine planning and execution.
