Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to lead environmental stewardship and regulatory adherence for mining operations near Queenstown. The role demands a deep understanding of environmental legislation, EIAs, and sustainable mining practices to protect licenses to operate and promote responsible resource extraction.

You will develop and implement EMS, monitor compliance, and guide site teams in best practices while engaging with regulators and local communities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related.
• 8+ years in environmental management, mining exposure.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA, MPRDA).
• Experience with EIAs, auditing, and reporting.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Ability to conduct site visits and engage with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage environmental management systems (EMS).
• Ensure compliance with national and local environmental laws and permit conditions.
• Conduct EIAs for new projects and operational changes.
• Oversee environmental monitoring programs (water, air, biodiversity).
• Manage waste, rehabilitation, and closure planning.
• Liaise with regulators, stakeholders, and community groups on environmental matters.
• Provide training and guidance to site personnel on best practices.
