Summerset is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Trentham village to provide high-quality aged care and support residents pursuing a fulfilling lifestyle. You’ll lead care on shifts, develop care plans, and collaborate with families to enhance residents’ daily lives.

The role emphasizes resident-directed care, with weekend and evening hours and an opportunity to contribute to a compassionate care team within a vibrant village environment.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Nurse with current Practising Certificate.
• Experience in aged care or retirement village care.
• Ability to lead and support care staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage residents’ daily needs including clinical and end-of-life care.
• Develop and follow long‑term care plans and conduct clinical assessments.
• Take charge on shifts and make clinical decisions.
• Deliver planned nursing care and review progress with residents and families.
• Provide guidance to caregivers on shift.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse at our Trentham village, you will be part of a team that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

The shift pattern and hours for this role are: Sunday - Wednesday 5pm - 9pm (Part-Time)

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

You’ll bring with you:

• A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
• A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead, remain calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient
• Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people, from residents, families and your colleagues
