Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Wellington, Lower Hutt area, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our care centre team. You will provide high‑quality aged care, manage daily clinical needs, and support residents and families to enhance quality of life.

The role requires NZ Registration and Practising Certificate, a calm, resilient approach, and strong communication. Weekend penalties and professional development opportunities are provided within a supportive retirement village

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and a current Practising Certificate are required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, stay calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient.
• Good communication skills with residents, families and colleagues.
• Experience in aged care and a resident-centred approach is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage residents’ daily care needs across clinical and end‑of‑life scenarios.
• Develop and follow long-term care plans and clinical assessments.
• Take the lead on shifts and make appropriate clinical decisions when required.
• Deliver planned nursing care and monitor progress with residents and families.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse at our Summerset Boulcott village, you will be part of a team that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical Duties Include

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

The shift pattern and hours for this role are: 4 days on, 2 days off (2AM, 2PM)

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

You’ll Bring With You

• A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
• A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead, remain calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient
• Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people, from residents, families and your colleagues
