We’re currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established commercial main contractor in Wellington.
This is an opportunity to step into a key role within a genuinely tight-knit team, working across a strong pipeline of commercial projects and building long-term relationships with repeat clients.
With projects typically ranging from $1M–$10M, and a sweet spot around $3M, this role would suit a Project Manager who enjoys having plenty on the go and is confident managing multiple projects across different stages of delivery.
You may have three key projects under your direct management, while also providing support across a couple of additional projects. As a result, strong organisation, commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise effectively are essential. You will be working with a experienced Site Managers on these projects.
Taking overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple commercial construction projects
Managing projects from pre-construction and procurement through to completion and handover
Leading project programmes, budgets, procurement, subcontractor management and quality
Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
Managing commercial outcomes, variations, costs, risks and project performance
Coordinating multiple projects at different stages while maintaining strong attention to detail
Building and maintaining strong relationships with repeat clients and key project stakeholders
Identifying and managing project risks before they become issues
Supporting the wider project team and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing environment
Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to a high standard
We’re looking for an experienced commercial construction Project Manager who can take ownership and hit the ground running.
You’ll ideally bring:
Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects
Experience managing projects in the $1M–$10M range, ideally with a strong background around the $3M mark
The ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong commercial and contractual understanding
Excellent planning, organisation and time-management skills
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
A practical, solutions-focused approach to project delivery
The confidence to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team
A strong focus on quality, client relationships and delivering the right outcome
